The safaris in the park are of two types — Jeep and Elephant. Jeep safaris are the best, for they maintain comfort even as you speed through vast stretches of the jungle. With the wildlife dispersing in the cool mornings, that is the prime time to find tigers, leopards, and even the seldom-seen wild dog packs. The fresh morning air, the slow rise of the sun, and the far-off barking of wildlife seem straight out of a cinematic scene.
Elephant safaris are more personal. Amazingly, atop a huge tusker, you can quietly travel through thick bamboo groves and reach deep into the sal forests that are inaccessible to vehicles. It's an older, slower, and more untouched way to appreciate the jungle.
There is more to Bandhavgarh than one safari zone, for the park is split into zones, each with its unique feature. The timings are mostly early morning and late evening, which offers the best chance to view the fauna.
The feeling of every safari in this park differs. Maybe, you don’t spot a tiger, but the feeling is that you certainly do.
Jeep Safari

Suggested Tour-
Bandhavgarh Jeep Safari is the most adventurous way to explore a national park. Can you imagine hiking to the forest gate before dawn, when the air is cool and filled with pink hues, the birds are getting ready to sing, and the silence is suddenly shattered by the distant call of a langur, warning there is a predator nearby? That is the best part of the journey.
A jeep carries a small group of guests, a wildlife guide, and a driver who is familiar with the park. The open vehicle immerses you in nature; you hear every sound: the rustling of leaves, the scent of damp earth, and the thrilled gasp when tiger footprints show up on the jeep trail.
Each Bandhavgarh Jeep Safari covers different zones of the park—Tala, Magdhi, Khitauli, and Panpatha. Each zone is known for a particular set of wildlife. For instance, while the Tala zone is renowned for its tiger sightings, the other zones offer their unique sightings. Safaris are scheduled twice a day: early morning (around the waking time of the big cats) and late afternoon (ideal for viewing animals at the watering holes).
Jeep Safari Bandhavgarh is the most entertaining way to explore Bandhavgarh. Its ease and speed, combined with the excitement of navigating the terrain, make it the perfect way to find the Bengal Tiger that the national park is known for.
Elephant Safari

Suggested tour-
For those who want the true experience of the wilderness, nothing is comparable to the Elephant Safari in Bandhavgarh. In contrast to the jeeps, elephants are capable of silent walking within dense sal forests, thick bamboo groves, and even watery patches that are unreachable by vehicles. Perched on a mighty tusker, you are slowly transported, elevated above the forest, as you take in the wilderness from a bird’s perspective.
One of the greatest benefits of an elephant safari is the proximity to animals. Because of the larger size of the elephant, tigers and leopards are often less disturbed by elephants. In such cases, you are able to watch a big cat a mere few meters away, either resting or stalking its prey. The slow and steady pace of an elephant also makes it possible for you to enjoy and truly appreciate the sounds of the forest, the rustling of leaves, birds singing, and on rare occasions, the distant roar of a tiger that resonates in the valley.
As jeep safaris explore more terrain, elephant safaris allow you to deeply connect with and experience the forest. They are less lengthy, offered in specific areas, and are a great deal to treasure.
If you would like to embark on a journey of Bandhavgarh as the monarchs did, consider the elephant safari, which is an ideal option.

Bandhavgarh National Park is split into four primary safari zones—Tala, Magdhi, Khitauli, and Panpatha—each offering its own kind of wildlife excitement that makes every safari distinct.
Tala Zone – As the most sought-after region, Tala is famously known as the tiger’s domain and has been home to renowned tigers like Charger and Sita. It contains Bandhavgarh Fort in addition to other beautiful viewpoints.

Suggested tour-
Magdhi Zone – Known for its tiger sightings, its grasslands, and its waterholes where animals, especially in the summer, come to gather.

Suggested tour-
Khitauli Zone – This area is abundant with leopards, wild dogs, and even sloth bears. It is ideal for visitors wishing to experience wildlife beyond just tigers.

Suggested Tour-
Panpatha Zone – Functions as a buffer zone that still maintains a decent concentration of wildlife. This zone provides a more reserved safari experience due to the reduced number of tourists.
Safaris are conducted twice daily
Morning Safari – Begins a little right after the sunrise, typically around 6:00–6:30 AM (changes with the season). Ideal for observing tigers and birds.
Evening Safari – Begins sometime between 3:00–3:30 PM and runs till the dusk. Ideal for viewing animals near water bodies and for appreciating the golden light of the jungles.
Earlier booking is compulsory as spots are limited, more so for the Tala Zone. Whichever you opt for, morning or evening, each safari nurtures a new narrative for the wild Bandhavgarh.
