Tour Itinerary

Upon arrival at Chennai International Airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Chennai, formerly known as Madras, is the capital of Tamil Nadu and one of the major cultural and economic centers of South India.

Later proceed for a city tour of Chennai visiting the famous Kapaleeshwarar Temple, a fine example of Dravidian temple architecture, followed by a visit to San Thome Basilica which is built over the tomb of St. Thomas the Apostle. Continue to Fort St. George, the first British fortress in India, and later visit Marina Beach, one of the longest urban beaches in the world.

After breakfast drive along the scenic East Coast Road to Mahabalipuram. This coastal town, also known as Mamallapuram, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its remarkable rock-cut temples and monuments built during the Pallava dynasty.

Upon arrival explore the famous Shore Temple overlooking the Bay of Bengal, the impressive Five Rathas which are monolithic rock temples, the magnificent bas-relief of Arjuna’s Penance depicting scenes from Hindu mythology, and the fascinating Krishna’s Butter Ball, a giant balancing rock. The evening is free to relax or enjoy a walk along the beach.

After breakfast drive to Pondicherry, a charming coastal town known for its strong French colonial heritage. Upon arrival explore the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, a spiritual community founded by Sri Aurobindo. Continue to visit Auroville, an experimental international township where people from around the world live together in harmony, and view the famous Matrimandir from the designated viewpoint.

Later enjoy a walk through the picturesque French Quarter with its colonial buildings, colorful streets, and seaside promenade. The evening is free to relax at Promenade Beach.

After breakfast drive towards Tanjore. En route stop at Chidambaram, one of the most important pilgrimage centers in Tamil Nadu, known for the famous Nataraja Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in his cosmic dancing form. This temple is unique as it represents Shiva as the cosmic dancer symbolizing creation and destruction of the universe.

After visiting Chidambaram continue the drive to Tanjore (Thanjavur), the historic capital of the powerful Chola dynasty and an important cultural center of South India. Upon arrival visit the magnificent Brihadeeswarar Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the finest examples of Chola architecture. Later explore the Tanjore Royal Palace complex and the famous Saraswati Mahal Library which houses a rare collection of ancient manuscripts.

After breakfast drive to Madurai, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and often referred to as the cultural capital of Tamil Nadu. Upon arrival check in at the hotel and later visit the magnificent Meenakshi Amman Temple, one of the most important temple complexes in India, known for its towering colorful gopurams and intricate sculptures.

In the evening you will have the opportunity to witness the fascinating temple night ceremony when the idol of Lord Shiva is ceremonially carried to the shrine of Goddess Meenakshi.

After breakfast enjoy a full day exploring Madurai. Visit the impressive Meenakshi Temple complex in more detail, followed by a visit to the Thirumalai Nayak Palace which showcases a beautiful blend of Dravidian and Islamic architectural styles.

Continue to the Gandhi Memorial Museum which highlights the life and achievements of Mahatma Gandhi.

Later explore the lively local markets of Madurai where you can experience the vibrant atmosphere and traditional South Indian culture.

After breakfast drive to Thekkady in Kerala, a beautiful hill region famous for the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and spice plantations.

Upon arrival check in at the hotel and later enjoy a boat ride on the scenic Periyar Lake where you may spot wildlife along the forested banks. You may also visit a spice plantation to learn about the cultivation of spices such as cardamom, pepper, and cinnamon. In the evening you may enjoy a traditional Kathakali dance performance which showcases the classical performing art of Kerala.

After breakfast drive to Munnar, one of the most beautiful hill stations in South India known for its rolling tea plantations and cool mountain climate. The drive offers spectacular scenery with lush green hills, waterfalls, and spice plantations along the way.

After breakfast proceed for a sightseeing tour of Munnar. Visit the Eravikulam National Park, home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr and famous for its breathtaking mountain landscapes. Continue to the Tea Museum where you will learn about the history and process of tea production in the region.

Later visit the picturesque Mattupetty Dam and Echo Point which offer beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The rest of the day is free to explore the local markets or relax amidst the tea gardens.

After breakfast drive to Alleppey, also known as Alappuzha, which is famous for its tranquil backwaters and network of canals and lagoons.

Upon arrival board a traditional Kerala houseboat for a relaxing cruise through the scenic backwaters. As the houseboat glides through narrow canals and palm-lined waterways you will have the opportunity to observe the peaceful village life and lush landscapes of Kerala. Freshly prepared local meals will be served on board while you enjoy this unique experience.

After breakfast disembark from the houseboat and drive to Cochin, also known as Kochi, a historic port city influenced by Portuguese, Dutch, and British cultures.

Upon arrival explore the famous Chinese Fishing Nets along the waterfront and visit St. Francis Church, the oldest European church in India. Continue to the Santa Cruz Basilica and the Dutch Palace in Mattancherry.

You will also visit the historic Jewish Synagogue and walk through the vibrant spice markets of the old town. In the evening enjoy a traditional Kathakali dance performance.
